Quick Hits

There is too much to write about so here are a few things to note…

  • On November 6th, the transit tax was not appealed, meaning Mecklenburg County will be paying for a 9 billion dollar transit system with approximately 70 million dollars a year.  That 9 billion doesn’t include operational cost…but the 70 million does.  Think about it.  But hey, now we have 1 new transit choice…if you live near the train…and if it connects to where you need to go.
  • The global warming alarmists took another hit this past week.  The founder of The Weather Channel called it a “scam”.  How many more scientists need to come out saying the same thing?
  • The Butler Bulldogs beat the Independence Patriots for the first time in seven years about a week ago.  It was the first loss for Independence to a North Carolina school in the same time.  It was the Bulldogs first outright conference championship and first #2 seed in the playoffs.  They’ll play again this Friday night in the 2nd round of the state playoffs at Memorial Stadium, with an expected attendance around 15 to 20 thousand.
  • The King of Spain told Venezualan dictator Hugo Chavez to “shut up” during a summit in Santiago, Chile.  Bought friggin’ time somebody said it.
  • The Charlotte 49ers opened their regular season up last Friday with a win over High Point.  This team probably won’t win the National Championship this year, but unlike the past few seasons, this team is exciting to watch.  I see a 22-12 season.
  • UNC Charlotte’s SGA president Justin Ritchie is a tool.  He’s the first Ron Paul supporter I’ve met who is favor of higher taxes.  Why don’t we just cut the middle man and have the chancellor tell us what issues we should support.
  • I’m now an official writer for The University Times and NinerOnline.com.  This should be fun.
  • I’m also a new blogger on BeyondTheSlogan.com.  I don’t have anything posted yet because I’m friggin busy.  Don’t worry Stephon, something is coming…and soon.
